Children’s Portraits

| Parents | April 6, 2010

I took these photos of Madeline last summer. I prefer to shoot children in an un-posed natural way letting them be themselves. That means a lot of running around behind them with a camera and it is always a great deal more work than shooting adults but the beautiful results can bring a parent to tears and that makes all the extra work well worth it. I know looking back at these photos in the future will bring to mind priceless memories of their children they will treasure forever. Having professional photos of your child taken truly is an investment in art. No other artwork you hang on your wall will invoke the emotional response you will get from seeing your baby captured in that fleeting moment of their life. I believe every parent should consider having a large canvas print made from their favorite photos of their children. It will become a family heirloom handed down from generation to generation. Contact me if you are looking for a children’s photographer this summer.

I shoot children’s portraits too!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing two year old Maddie and Her mom Holly.

Holly, who is expecting a new baby soon, wanted a few belly photos taken with Madelyn and a few of of Maddie alone. It was quite a funny shoot with me trying to keep up with a two year old!

At one point Maddie had had enough and I could tell the shoot was over if I didn’t come up with something to get her attention back and make things fun again, soooo I said ” Mad your mom has a hole in her tummy! Stick your finger in there and see if you can touch your new baby!” Maddie thought this was funny and proceeded to stick her pointy little finger in Holly’s belly button. (sorry Holly but I had to do something!) Mad was quite amused and she had us laughing too. This is the photo from that moment. I love it! She continued to let me photograph her just long enough to finish the shoot and get some really sweet photos.

The ones near the beach were taken at Bushwood Wharf in St. Mary’s County MD.

Coltons Point photo shoot in front of the St. Clements Island Museum

| Parents | July 12, 2009

I recently did a senior shoot with Mike Copenhaver, who attends Leonardtown high school. We took Mike to several places around St. Mary’s County MD. One of the places near the water where I love to shoot is Coltons Point in front of the St. Clements Island museum.

Every year Coltons Point is where the annual Blessing of the Fleet celebration takes place. It really is a wonderful place to take your family. The fireworks display is amazing. My family always enjoys it more than the 4th of July celebration at the fair grounds because you don’t have the huge crowds! Bring your lawn chairs or blankets, spread them out on the bank along the water front and relax with your friends and neighbors!

But, back to Mike! He was a natural in front of the camera and made my job super easy!
I put his mom to work as my lighting assistant. She did an amazing job! Thanks guys I had a lot of fun working with you!

Funny baby photo..

While I was going through my files, attempting to get them organized, I came across this photo. It still makes me laugh he looks like such a little man and he is only a few days old! Just thought I would share it with you all. It is still one of my favorite baby photos ever.

Emily’s senior photo shoot…

| Parents | May 21, 2009

While I do a lot of wedding and boudoir photography they are not the only things I shoot. Last week Emily came to see me and she wanted something different. So, we put her in her prom gown and went exploring around my back yard and neighborhood. These are just a few of her photos and all I can say is WOW She looks beautiful! I hope I captured that fairytail look she was after. I’ll be blogging more of her photos soon. Thanks Em I had a great time with you and your mom. You will definitely have to come hang at my house with Madison. You two are exactly the same!
